I have my egg collection booked in for tomorrow morning Just wondering if it is painful at all? I have the day off, but wondering if I should take the following day off as well? I won't have many eggs to collect as I only have 3 or 4 mature follicles,(not sure if that is a factor). Do they take the eggs out of all my follicles, or just the mature ones?

How exciting amywillo86 from my experience I had egg collection 3 days ago now. It's day 3 now and I'm only just ok to get up and about. The egg collection is painless cause ur under anaesthetic but when I woke up I had nausea and a bit of pain on my left side. Was fine till I got home and then the pain relief must of worn off because I was in a lot of pain. I woke up at midnight that night and could hardly walk. Was very painful and tender. I was constipated at first got my partner to get me prune juice and then I had the runs for about an HR non stop but it was a relief. Yesterday I slept the day away in bed the whole day which helped. It's amazing how sleep heals. Today is the first day I'm up and about. Still a little tender but at least I can walk about. Everyone is different so u may not get any of what I had. I had 11 eggs collected out of 18 follicles & only four fertilised (I was a bit disappointed in the numbers) but Que Sera Sera what can I do. Just have to have hope that one strong one will fulfil my dreams. Good Luck tomorrow - yr one step closer

Oh Nettz so sorry to hear

Hopefully your 5 day blasty is the strong one.

I hope your next cycle is the one. Will it be a medicated FET or a natural. I'm glad my FD did a natural as it was the key for me having no drugs in my system.

Have be a few over Chrissy & New Years and focus on your new cycle.

    Big hugs xx

    1. I was told by the nurse that a blast being 5day old embryo can NOT be transferred any later than day 5 as the uterus and other levels starts changing etc. it can be put in a couple of days earlier but NO later. Mine was put back on day six.
    2. I have progesterone issues. I fell pregnant naturally 4 times (only 3 births as I miscarried 1) I bleed through first trimester if not on proper support. I told the dr I think I need to be on more than 1 dose of crinone a day. He disagreed and has NEVER monitored what my progesterone levels are doing. Even though every damn cycle ends exactly the same. We have no fertility issues except a botched surgery that damaged my tubes and they couldn't be repaired.
I feel so upset disappointed and ripped off. We've sacrificed so much to have our previous 5 cycles. We still have 2 frosties and I don't even know when we can afford to transfer them
    Rant over....
ps. Yes I'm extremely grateful for my 3 children that I already have and I'm sorry if I sound selfish, I just can't wrap my head around this ivf stuff when I managed to have those 3 with an abusive alcoholic crackhead, and now that I'm with the most beautiful man who deserves his "own" children I can't F-ING give it to him!!!!!!!!
    Oh darling

I am so angry for you as well....

Your Doctor should have listened to you when you asked for more progesterone support because whilst an embryo implanting has a lot to do with its biology you also need to be creating the right environment for it..

I have previously believed that my progesterone has been the issue as well because I would often get my period 2-3 days before it was due or before blood test.

When I had a meeting with my Dr after our ED's cycle where we had our one frosty to discuss my FET I said to him that I was really concerned that my progesterone and luteal phase were an issue.

He was fantastic.. He basically said "ok this is what we will do to make sure it isn't" and he put me on femara from CD2-6 (similar to clomid), then I was on 2 x 250mg pessaries from about 5 days before transfer and 3 shots of 1500 Pregnyl one the day before transfer, 2 days after transfer and 5 days after transfer. He also made me have a blood test the day before transfer to check my P4 as if it wasn't high enough they wouldn't thaw our embryo.

Low and behold my body did exactly what it was meant too, I ovulated exactly at the right time and only had about 2 blood tests and 1 scan (about day 16 for me) and my P4 the day before transfer was 60 (in comparison my FET last year the month after our EPU I ended up having blood tests every day at one point because I wasn't getting to the ovulation and surge).

I truly believe my Dr listening to my concerns and having pretty much a natural FET with no drugs in my system (combined with the biology from my ED) is the reason why my freckle is in there now.

Make your Dr listen to you. and if he won't then change clinics. I was at a previous clinic for my first 3 cycles and am so glad I moved and found this clinic.

    xxxx

I had my eggs retrieved last Sunday. The retrieval itself was fine. Be prepped for a little pain/discomfort when they go down there to freeze but it's really quick. After that there was no pain. I was up for it and I'm glad because it was really fascinating to watch. I took 4 days off because I was very uncomfortable but they took out 20 eggs. Might be a good idea to take the next day off just to get the drugs out of your system and to simply relax!

Drink lots and lots of Gatorade and best of luck!!!

Hi All, sad news this morning, our embie arrested at 8 cells - should've been transferred this morning. Extremely disappointed, but onwards and upwards from here. Spoke with my FS, and we've agreed to go ahead with a low dose of FSH for 7 days (cycle after next), and then bump it up to the high dose, as he said it was an excellent sign that one egg we did have fertilised and reached this stage. He said doing this, will likely recruit more eggs to come on board initially with the next one in line, and give us a better chance of more than 1 egg. Gutted, but feeling positive for the next go.

Had final scan this morning, not great, 4-6 follicles that look to be a good size, but we're going ahead with PU on Friday. I've been extended twice already so apparently can't leave it any longer or my body will start throwing a tantrum. We figure the chance of getting something is better than a guaranteed nothing!

@ceecee77, I'm very sorry your embryo arrested at 8 cells . Based on your nickname containing 77, are you by any chance 39 years old? What protocol has your fertility specialist put you on? I'm on something called long protocol.

I started my first injection yesterday using 450 Gonal f and 75 Luveris and something called saizen... It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it did hurt when I pushed the needle in slowly. My husband said I should dart it in quickly.. It actually made it less painful! How long do you all normally stim for?
I'm worried that I won't get many eggs, because they only saw 4 follicles yesterday.. I'm hoping some more grow, but a bit worried as all of them were < 8mm and i don't want uneven growth should any new ones sprout..

@ivf newbie I'm so sorry about you result. Sending love and hugs during this crappy time. Sounds like you have some good ideas to bring to your FS. I think I may fall into the progesterone support category because I always get my AF a few days before BT. xxx
@amywillo86 I've been fine to work the next day after transfer. I usually get between 15-20 follies. But it's good to take it easy. Everyone responds differently tho so just listen to what your body is telling you at the time.
@nettz84 sorry you got that confirmation call It's almost cruel you have to get two phone calls isn't it. Nothing makes it easier tho. Hope your next cycle with your 5 dayer is the one!!
@ceecee77 oh no I was holding out hope you'd get to a transfer. So sorry, how upsetting. Look after yourself. Hope the next plan of action works for you xx

AFM I'm 5dp6dt and I'm not feeling anything. I have a gut feeling it's a negative. Last time I had a gut feeling it was positive but doubted it...but still knew. This time there's no real signs giving me hope. Feeling very flat about it. Last pregnyl was on Sunday.
