Then yes he is putting sport over his wife and child.
The "sport" is his "job" so what you are actually saying is he is potentially putting his job over this upcoming birth. That's just not always a choice we have as parents. I think you're just typing sport to make it appear less important?

If the person has a choice to opt out without repercussions and doesn't then that is just something I can't comprehend regardless of the industry. That being said if the industry is sport I do judge that as less important - particularly if it is an amateur sport that may only be a small part of a persons income.

I also had retained placenta with my first but not for my second.

In terms of your question - I was induced for my first (41+1wks with high BP). It was a positive experience but obviously each situation is different. I was booked into induction for my second but ended up going into spontaneous labour 3 days prior (from memory 40+6).

I also imagine being a professional sportsman, you need to take opportunities as they present or you may run the risk of being overlooked in the future.

I think I would let nature take its course, have a second support person on standby for labour (just in case) and cheer for hubby on the field. *This is based on my experiences and how I think I would feel in that situation.

I wish you all the best

I was induced with my first, & given the choice I wouldn't do it again.

If you are uncomfortable with the idea of being induced then I wouldn't do it. If your hubby has offered to forfeit the travel I would take him up on the offer. Of course, like others have said, if finances permit.
