That we are poor so can't afford certain things. Eg movies every weekend ect.

Truth is we have a fair bit of excess income but it goes into the mortgage and decent food and we do free activities most of the time.

Nothing wrong with this one. I do it with plasticy junk toys at the shop. I'm not wasting money on stuff that lasts a few days before breaking.

I tell DS the bubble wand only has 5/10/whatever number blows left in it so we count them out and then I can put it away!

This thread made me think about my own childhood...my father was a major bullsh!t artist and told me when I was very little that I was found in an African village and brought back to Australia and scrubbed white. My brother was found somewhere else. Ugh the crap that man dribbled and as little children we believed him.

    What the...!?!

The only one I remember my dad telling me as a child was not to swallow watermelon seeds otherwise a watermelon will grow in my tummy. I was literally terrified of seeded watermelon!

Default White lies you tell your kids

My DS isn't old enough to have needed to tell a fib to but when I babysat my nephew, he was being a turd, I rang that old number that used to call you back after you hung up and pretended I was talking to the police because of his bad behavior. He stopped being naughty. Also because my mum is Scottish and dad is Aussie she told me I had purple blood because scots have blue blood and mine is mixed, I was really disappointed when I fell and bled red

I tell my ds (2yrs old) that if the lights are on/flashing it means they're broken but he can still play on them.

Someone I know told her daughter as a child that a particular item at the bakery, I think it was a meringue, had alcohol in it so she couldn't have them. When the daughter was an adult and married she said something to her husband about them containing alcohol - she had believed it all her life
