Default Ongoing diarrhoea in 5yr old.

Hi! DS 5 has diarrhoea on and off for about 3 weeks. Any tips or advice? He seems ok in himself. I'm just not sure what to give him, if anything? I can't take any more time off work.

Have you been to GP? If not , I'd go and get a stool sample done.
I had it for 2 weeks straight and turns out I had a bug . I went on antiobiotics and all was fine after 2 courses!
    Hopefully he feels better soon

Thanks! I haven't been to the GP, just as I think to go, he seems better. Then goes backwards. I'll have to take him. I've got to work the next two days which makes it hard.

Thanks for this. How quickly did you get a diagnosis? He has been on a lot of antibiotics this year so I worry it's a lot but then again, I don't want him to have diarrhoea.

I saw my gp and she said there is a test they can do but takes a couple of days but she thinks it giardia and offered a script for dd to start straight away.

We had the same diagnosis as @purplepoppy with DD1 having Giardia. They believe it was from contaminated water after the floods. Took a few days for the stool samples to come back but we started the antibiotics straight away. DD1 was also vomiting a bit to!

Once he's better id put him on a probiotic that helps restore gut health. I'm on one daily and it really helps my bowel issues. Ask the Dr what they think of probiotics

Thanks! Yes, I've been meaning to do this since he has been on lots of antibiotics this year. I'll get onto them this week.
