Just had my egg collection at Genea this morning. We are going through IVF because hubby has a 50/50 gene he could pass down. I was shocked when they told me I only got 3 eggs... reason being is I ovulated about 1hr before my collection time. I'm devestated... This was my first cycle ever. Dr was hoping for 15 eggs, everything looked great leading up to it & they hoped to get 10 in the end, but we lost them all except 3.

Hey @Natey08 so sorry to hear you didn't get as many eggs as you hoped for hopefully those 3 are of amazing quality and you have 1 to put back and 2 for later. So how did you ovulate an hour before the pick up? I though we get trigger shots the day before? Sorry I'm an ivf newbie, we are starting our first round next month. I've been told because of my low amh to expect only 5 or less. DF has low sperm count which is why we are doing ivf. Who is your dr?

Hi @kylez83 - i'm new to all this too and didn't even think that early ovulation with all those drugs was possible! The trigger must have over stimulated me and my eggs were starting to release just prior to going in... Yeah i did the nasal spray 36hrs before and again 24hrs (their instructions).

I think you have a higher chance than me right now as even if you produce 3 eggs, they will fertilise them. With us, they still need to jump through a lot of hoops to get ready Our dr is Dr Gee... You?

I wish you all the best next month!

Hi all, I'm also going through Genea. Im with Antony Lighten, a truly wonderful guy.

Sorry to hear you ovulated early @Natey08.. I don't understand why that happened.. Why don't they stick to pregnyl or ovidrel as the trigger?? The nasal spray is problematic.

AFM, my doctor wants us to try naturally for 4 months after he went in and found endo (I had no symptoms) and excised it. He doesn't think IVF will work for me....

Thanks @Natey08 so have they said what your chances of fertilized eggs are at the end of this? So stressful on top of an already stressful situation! Sending hugs

We are seeing dr Helen Peric. We are meeting with our ivf nurse today just for a q and a. We are regional so we meet with the nurse to get the drugs and then go to Sydney for the egg drop off and pick up.

Hi there @kylez83, how did you go seeing Dr Peric? What is she like? I was going to see her. My doc says that because I've had previous failures with IVF (not with him), he thinks my eggs don't like the IVF process. He thinks the endo was preventing me from getting a bfp.. Of course he says no guarantees, but he seems quite confident.. I guess we'll see... Although I'm not feeling confident at all

@nightowlsurprise we have only had 1 Skype interview with her because we live regional. That's interesting what your dr has said. Well hopefully he is right! Fingers crossed for you!

Can I ask how you chose your specialist at Genea? There are so many. What did you like about her or did someone you know recommend her?

@nightowlsurprise what problems do you know of with the spray? I think they did it because I had to use frozen sperm & that we're going through PGD? I don't know. They're saying my next cycle will be starting with the nasal spray then potentially on to Gornal F... it'll be a slower cycle with more markers for ovulation.

@kylez83 2 of our 3 fertilised which is amazing 🙏 However because we need to do PGD for this specific gene mutation, we don't have a proper bio marker. We need one of these embri's to have the mutation and one not to for it to be a successful cycle... chances of that are pretty low 😔 They can only guarantee they don't have the mutation 90% if we don't have a marker.
