Default Do you stack your dryer on top of your washer?

Just wondering if this would work? We are looking at getting a new dryer and possibly front loader (we currently have a top loader) and I would love to be able to put the dryer on top of the washer to save space. We cannot hang the dryer on the wall as we have these weird steel sheet walls not plaster walls, plus we are renting. We currently have our dryer in the garage.

Do you have your dryer sitting on top of your washing machine? Does it work ok for you and seek stable? (Obviously we would measure to make sure the dryer would fit on top!)

    Thanks

    Yes

Did it in two laundries when I had a front loader.

Not sure if it's recommended though

Yes, but we had to buy a stacking kit to do it. The washer and dryer are both the same make, Miele.

What about the washer dryer combos? I haven't used one so no idea if they are any good.
I have my dryer and front loader separate. My old front loader moves a bit on its violent spin cycle lol no way it would be safe to have a dryer on top. But this may be just because it is about 13 years old I'm sure a new one wouldn't be that violent!

We used to sit our dryer on our front loader with no problems. It's mounted on the wall now though.

Yep. We have a Miele washer and dryer. You can get a shelf thing to put between the washer and dryer so it sits on top of the washer and not off the wall.

I haven't done this but we've just bought a new washer and dryer and did a lot of research!
If you're going to buy a new dryer, if you can stack it will depend on the kind. We bought a condenser dryer and they're really heavy so I don't know how they would go being stacked on a washer. A regular one might be ok.
A washer/dryer combo might be an idea but we worked out you can't dry a whole load of wet clothes. you have to take some out and then put the dryer on.

Is there any way you can reinforce the wall you could hang the dryer on?

I used to have them stacked on top of each other and no problems as I was interstate renting so had no choice but now I'm back home and on my own house again it's back up on the wall (double brick and rendered)

We have ours stacked and I love it. We had a washer dryer combo when we lived in England many moons ago and didn't like it at all - took forever cause you couldn't do another load till the first load finished. It was just the two of them, it would drive me bonkers now we have the kids
