My DH compliments me a lot, esp when I'm not dressed up which is sweet. These are genuine feelings for him but he also knows it means a lot to me. I don't compliment him as much as he does me.

We both read the '5 Love Languages' - saved/improved our marriage hugely!!! Explains how people like to receive love in different ways. Either through:
    - acts of service
    - gifts
    - words of affirmation
    - physical touch
    - quality time

Most people have approx 2 that mean a lot to them. Anyway, long story short, my hubby and I are opposites in how we communicate love so the book helped us realize how to make our partner feel loved. It REALLY helped!!

I am finding this thread both interesting and entertaining.

My hubby always tells me "You're stunning". "You have a great body". (I've had a double mastectomy, and partial reconstruction, due to breast cancer, so he is clearly insane). But I think "Yeah, whatever, if you love me so much, why can't you put your undies in the hamper, hang the bath-mat up after your shower, generally put your sh!t away, etc".

So yes, I'm all about "acts of love".

Mine compliments himself so there is no need for me to do it

As for me he said yesterday I look great. His contacts must be failing as I'd been up all night with new ds2, smelt like breastmilk, had baby chuck on me, hair was a mess and in a pony tail and I still had my pjs on from the night before

@yadot did you work out which of the 5 love languages relates to you and your husband ? Make sure you get him to do the questionnaire. Xx hope you're well.
