    Sharing a room is hard with these issues as well. Could the bedroom be a shared toy area and special toys go somewhere else for her so when she wants gem she has to go and go and get them.

    My daughters share a room - it doesn't really have toys in it but they have a toy area. They can take toys into their room to play but all has to come out at end of day. That way you are kind of supervising them
    I was going to suggest this too - not store toys in the bedroom but they can still have a play area. And I would keep the toys in separate containers/drawers/baskets or whatever storage system you have.

    How old is your DD?
