Does this go for all people who break Australian laws?

ETA actually the point that really makes me sad is the last one. I mean, what possible reason is there for that??

So anyone who has ever broken an Australian law should not be entitled to any form of government support?

    Indeed.

Like a lot of Pauline's policies, I suspect that the 'problem' is more perceived than real, too. I suspect that the number of people in Australia in multiple marriages is very very small.

About as small as the chance of Sharia law being introduced...

Yeah I get where you're coming from. I guess for me, it's knowing that the fact she got in means that x many Australians agree with her...which I find extremely sobering.

And ironically makes me want to be very much not sober.

The problem is that Pauline and some of her right wing loon mates *are* likely to hold the balance of power in the Senate, and if that is the case, legislation will need to be acceptable to her and/or whoever holds the balance of power to be passed. There's been speculation that the Senate cross-bench will be 9 or 10 senators.

I would be *hopeful* that her madder policies won't get any traction... but who knows. Politics has moved a lot to the right, I think, in the last 20 years. She was a real outlier (for an elected representative) when she was elected to the House of Reps in the mid-1990s, but now... she has some elected mates too... ;( I worry about where Australia and the rest of the world is going. President Trump? *shudder*

It all follows if you live in Pauline-land. The Quran is inconsistent with Strayan values, you see, so of course they can't be sworn in to the Parliament under the Quran (and because Islam isn't a real religion of thousands of years *cough*). I bet what she really wanted to say (but maybe even she thought it was too far) is that Muslims shouldn't be in the Parliament. Sigh.

I know the old internet rule about the person who raises the Nazis loses the argument... but really... what else does this sort of rubbish remind you of.
