very proud of DS who I have just been advised has been awarded the general excellence scholarship of $1000 for the high school of his choice next year - breathing a little bit of a sigh of relief now over the reduction of high school set up costs for that amount at least

Hoping desperately that I will not be sick by next Thursday, so that I can enjoy a long weekend in Brisbane with my friends, DH and DS. Energy and the ability to breathe would go a long way to making the weekend more enjoyable.

Waiting for my first home visit from the midwife. I've never had this in my previous two pregnancies - not offered in good old FNQ. Apparently she will come once now before bub. Then comes again once a week for 4 weeks after bub! Blown away and have absolutely no idea what to expect.
I've raced madly around cleaning the house, made sure I had a selection of teas and coffee and made jam drops. I'm exhausted lol

Anyway I really like the idea of a midwife coming around after baby is born - even though this number 3 it will be so reassuring.

*mostly* they don't care what your house looks like, as long as it is normal mess and they think you are coping and on top of things.
The only issue I encountered was with DD1 on what was supposed to be their last visit. When they turned up, I had been feeding DD and left her on the lounge sleeping to answer the front door (why oh why did I do that). Midwife comes in the house mid morning, I was in my PJ's, DS was running around naked, newborn DD had somehow rolled and her face was against the back of the sofa. We had an issue with the kitchen tap and exdh had dismantled the tap and hoses, cr@p was spread over the kitchen floor and dishes were mounted up on the bench (couldn't do dishes because the tap was out of action). In other words, she had walked in on chaos.
The midwife took a look around and said Oh, I think we may need to come back for another visit.
I made sure the house was very clean, I had nice hair and even put makeup on for the return visit.

I am so devastated about the death of Stuart Kelly and disgusted at the events that allegedly led to it 😔
