I live in Leichhardt with a 1 year old and 2.5yr old and it's great. There are so many playgroups (once you find out about them as they aren't really advertised but I found most through word of mouth) and lots of things within walking distance or public transport. I never drive anyway now, always use public transport as its so easy and quick and am so much fitter for walking so much.

Rent is fricking expensive though! You can get something for up to $750 but it would be prob 2 bedroom and competition for houses is very high. But I would def recommend inner west.

I don't live there but have friends who do and it's a great area - there are heaps of great restaurants and Italian delis!! DS school is near there , I have friends in real estate offices around there ( Summer Hill and Ashfield) if you need any info!

Thank you so much @Elijahs Mum. We have just been offered a property in five dock, a bit over our budget but great to hear it's a great area! Yay!

Yes I lived next door to five dock for many years. It's quite central and easy to get into the city from there. It's pretty busy. Five dock leisure centre is a great gym and have karate etc for the kids

Good news OP - I think you'll be happy in Five Dock

I have a friend who lives in Concord (neighbouring suburb) and she's been very happy there for years.
