What was your experience with IUI, is it worth it?

Welcome @samandsarah. We too completed 2 unsuccessful IUI. I too have mild PCOS. We decided to move to IVF. The success rates improve. We are about to start our first IVF cycle once AF arrives.

Last January we saw our FS and she said I could start metformin to regulate my cycle but as my PCOS is mild making some lifestyle changes would make a huge difference. So I decided to focus on diet and exercise. I wasnt hugely overweight but I could of lost some weight. So I started exercising 5 days a week and eating a low GI diet. No dairy. Also I swear by acupuncture. I have lost 14kg and my cycles are back to 35 days. So IUI cycles were ok I was able to grow a dominant follicle. I didnt have any issues with growing too many. Our last unsuccessful IUI was in November we took a break over xmas and I worked on egg quality. Fingers crossed all my work has paids off and I get lucky with IVF 1! Are you looking at MIVF for your treatment?

Welcome samandsarah me and my partner did the two IUI then moved to IVF and went thru two egg collections to get to where we are now ( 24 weeks pregnant)
I have unexplained fertility and went thru a lap after one IVF cycle with 3 transfers and found not much!
I much preferred IVF and it definitely had more of a chance - they say IUI would have the same chance as trying at home
    I am also 30

Good luck with your next step I hope it is a fast one

That's great that you have been able to control it like that @Amy1926 . Maybe moving to ivf is the way to go.

I am with mivf for treatment, so far I have found them good, but I guess I don't have anything else to compare it to. Who are you with?

We have some friends that have recently got pregnant on their first iui. I am happy for them, but makes me wish mine had have worked, terrible I know.

I really hope your ivf works. You must be pretty excited to get started.

Yes with MIVF and we have been happy with the service so far. Our FS is good straight to the point which I like.

Its hard hearing people that are successful with their first IUI.

No experience with IUI because we conceived DD through IVF but I do know PCO is actually really helpful when doing IVF due to the abundance of follicles! We used my partners eggs and because of PCO they managed to collect 20 eggs of which 18 were mature. 15 of those went on to form blasts (day 5 embryos) and our professor chose the best to use and freeze. He popped DD back in me and froze another 8 blasts!

The good thing with IVF is that you know there is an embryo in there. You aren't left wondering if the sperm ever met the egg. Good luck girls!

    Thanks @TortoiseNotTheHare

I have spoken to our FS and we're gonna start IVF and we can do so as soon as my period starts. Yay!
@Amy1926 when are you starting? Have you told your friends and family?

That's awesome!! Some find IVF more invasive and I guess it is but you also are more informed so that really outweighs the invasive side IMO.

When is your period due? I'm looking forward to hearing about your journey!!
