Honest opinions please. I love sewing and was thinking of making something as a gift for friends kids as birthday presents.
Would you/your child actually prefer a home sewn outfit (eg, dress, costume) or something store bought?
I would spend about the same on a store bought gift or the materials used to make an outfit so it's not the money that's the issue.
Just wondering if it would be appreciated by the recipient.

Absolutely love them. They are unique, made with love and your time, and I totally get and appreciate that. Hand made items cost a fortune at markets!

My dd was given a homemade dress one year for her birthday and she loved it! My friend was just starting out, but it was so lovely that she took the time to do something like that.
I think its a lovely idea

We love handmade stuff! We have a friend who has made dresses for the girls and gorgeous bibs, tote bags, blankets etc. They're all so gorgeous and I love that they're so individual. Plus, you feel so special having something that a lot of effort and thought has gone into

I absolutely love it. Some of the best presents the kids have ever received were homemade by friends. I still remember who made them and what they were for (birthday/christmas). It's such a special thing to do. Mine have received blankets, hats, dresses and tote style bags and we love them all

I love homemade stuff. I would be chuffed to receive something like that as a gift. It takes so much more effort than buying something!

Depends... I don't really like getting skirts or pants because the ones I've been given haven't been something my girls would wear. Other things, like pencil/car rolls, hats, t shirts, bags, kids wallets, costumes, fairy wings etc have been loved.
One year our mother's group made costumes for each of the kids for Christmas. It was so fun and great for the kids.

Love it. My sister makes things for DS2 all the time and shirts for me. Just knowing the time and effort that goes into them is wonderful - add they are unique and it's just gets better 😄
