    My dad had a similar experience- some bloke parked in front of his house for hours - it was a semi rural area so quite odd but dad knocked on the window and turns out he was a private investigator on a job.

    Maybe note down the rego just in case?

    He could be someone who was made redundant and now doesn't know what to do with himself. There are people who still pretend they are going to work every day and then just sit in their cars because the reality is too hard.

    Could have had a fight with the Mrs, or had a pregnancy or similar suddenly dropped on him and he just needed to go somewhere and zone out?? Maybe received bad news from a doctor and he's just working up the nerve to go home?? I'm not really sure, it certainly is odd though.
