    Default maternity leave question

hello, i am currently expecting and i have HG and cholestasis. I've been off work for a while now. I have exhausted personal leave and about to use up my annual leave.
once I've exhausted these options, should I resign? I'm not getting any better. I was hoping to make it to maternity leave as the parental leave would've been an excellent help, however I feel it's unfair on my employer? I work for a small business with no HR presence, so not sure how to handle this.
What could I do in my situation? Thanks in advance.

Depending on your circumstances you may be eligible for unpaid special maternity leave.
