Default Can someone please explain the appeal

    Of Rebel Wilson?

I love Graham Norton and am catching up while DH is out and she's on. Again.

I just don't get the appeal, but most people seem to love her. People keep telling me I'll like Pitch Perfect, but I'm put off because she's in it.

Please tell me I'm not the only on who doesn't think she's funny.

She makes fun of herself in a unique-ish way.

She's not afraid to go "there". No shame.

I wouldn't say appealing but funny in small doses.

Default Can someone please explain the appeal

She's anti everything that is acceptable and appealing in Hollywood. She's perceived as "real". She fat, and loud, and doesn't do the submissive pretty actress thing that's supposed to be expected.

So with so much fakery in her world people cling to her because they think they can relate to her.

I saw How to be Single, and I actually really enjoyed the movie but I don't think she can act at all.

But I don't get the appeal of many actresses or actors.

Prince died a few days ago and it warranted a couple of posts on here. Without a doubt one of the greatest musicians and guitarists who ever lived. Some guy from a movie about speeding cars drag racing each other died a few years ago and it got a 7 page thread of people crying about it.

Meh I gave up on trying to figure out what's appealing a long time ago.

People find different personalities appealing for different reasons. You don't have to get it, for the life of me I I don't get the kardashians. I find a piece of someone else's chewed up chewing gum on the bottom of my shoe more appealing than them.

Olive - I am not into the Kardashians either. So much attention seeking!

Sonja - I don't think she can act either. She was in some thing I saw ages ago and I thought she was terrible! Don't fine her funny either.

But you're both right in that she is different from most actresses. I guess I just find the whole "super Aussie" stuff a bit insincere and put on. And I definitely don't think she's as funny as she seems to think she is! She wasn't as bad on the show this time. The last time she was on, she kept interrupting the other guests with funny (apparently) anecdotes and just came across as really rude and arrogant to the other guests who were all more famous than her!

I think she works in really small roles. She had a tiny role in one night at the museum 2 and she was really good in that.

I think she has that 'big funny gal' persona like Melissa McCarthy which appeals to many.

I have found her to be funny in some roles she has played, but I've never seen Pitch Perfect.

As for her as a person, she lost appeal for me when she was caught out lying about her age. She also jokes about growing up in 'the ghetto', but she grew up in Cherrybrook in Sydney (a pretty nice/affluent suburb). I don't like phonies/liars.

I don't take to her. I can't put my finger on why but I just don't.

I remember when on occasion she was on Thank God You're Here and she was hilarious. She was great in Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect.

As for Paul Walker dying I find it hard to swallow he had like a 16yo girlfriend 😟
