I've been saying it all along! The little things our kids are exposed to now (boys and girls toy aisles, rudey magazine pics, little comments we make) all contribute to the gender issues they will face down the track.

Influencing gender identity with kids
17-04-2016 21:28 #2
While I think most parents these days are aware of this, and complement their kids like the dad in the article, it's something you can't avoid.
My mil, an educated woman, will very often (when ever she thinks I won't hear) compliment DD's looks, and comments if she has "put on weight" (until the last few mths DD looked like a stick figure, she is very active and has a more sculpted look now, she hasn't actually "got chubby" but that's a whole other thread)
Despite having tried nicely, not so nicely, and going completely berserk, to explain this to mil, she does NOT get it, I've given up and put it down to the generation gap.

The app doesn't display the article, it starts to show it but then it goes blank.
Can you copy and paste the text into a post?
