I like it! It's my dad's name so we couldn't use it, but it's up there as one of my faves 👍🏼

I have never been a fan of the name but all the Joel's I have met have always been really nice guys.
Go with what you love.

My opinion on telling the family the name is this:
Don't tell them!
The reason being is everyone has an opinion and what if it was the one name you both agreed on and loved and your Mother says "I don't like that name at all" or worse!
If you have chosen that name you will forever know that they don't like it!
It is so much better to have the baby and hand this gorgeous little bundle to them and say "hey, meet Joel!".
The response would be so different like "oh, hello gorgeous little Joel"
Now that you are asking about the name, I like it, a lot! It is a very boyish name, however I think it is a little dated!
Who cares about anyone else, it will grow on them! Do what you want!

I really wouldn't base my decision on what others are saying, because really who cares! Once bub arrives everyone will be all smitten with him and will probably be commenting how the name suits him.
It's your baby, extend family/friends don't get a say.

I like it.
It was on my shortlist for baby number 1, but she was a girl! Named her Jocelyn.

Thanks for all your replies... It's not that I would let my family influence my decision it's more that I had that name from the beginning and I hadn't put a lot of thought into any other names so when mil was negative about it I started to think maybe I hadn't thought it through very well. It's such a important decision but both hubby and I like it so I think we will stick with it.... It just feels right 😊
