    Default Gym shower etiquette

    * mods please move this if it isn't in the right section *

I have been going to the gym since Feb this year and am yet to take a shower at the gym. I work out at 5:30am rather than 6:30am to allow time for me to get back home to shower which is a little bit ridiculous! Think of all of that sleep I'm missing out on!

I have googled a bit about gym shower etiquette but they all suggest getting undressed at the locker then walking naked to the shower, then getting dressed at the locker 😳 that is way outside of my comfort zone. But in the shower cubicles, there is literally 1 hook (presumably for my towel) and no bench or other dry area to put my clothes. This makes me assume that they're trying to discourage people from getting dressed / undressed in the shower cubicles.

So in this case, what would you do if getting undressed and dressed out in the open was 100% not going to happen?

Go into the shower cubicle fully clothed with:

    Your towel
An empty bag to put your gym clothes in
A bag containing your clean clothes

Hang all three of them on the hook so you can undress/dress in the privacy of the shower cubicle.

    Would this work?

Thanks @Degrassi, I think this would work well. I wonder if other gym users would get annoyed with me getting dressed in the shower cubicle... I guess I can try and see if anyone grumbles at me!

This is what I would do (and have done at the rehab pool). I'm too self conscious to be naked in front of strangers!

There aren't any hooks in the showers at my gym. I just throw my towel and clothes over the shower curtain rail, bag sits just outside the shower cubicle, but in the curtain. In summer I just put underwear on and then dry my hair in my undies and brs with a towel wrapped around my waist. In winter I do undies and top half of clothes in shower, then pants out in the main room so they don't get wet.
No one walks around naked in the change rooms at my gym. Some fully cloth before they leave the shower.
Stop stressing about it and just do it 😊

I sling towl over door. Hook plastic bag with undies and bra in plastic bag to put on after shower.. Then i am able to walk out to finish getting dressed. You can also sling a spare towl over the door that is dry that you can wrap yourself in to walk out with.?

I would- not because you were doing that, but because I potentially have to wait much longer to get a shower when I too have to go to work.

What about using a thin knee length bathrobe to cover yourself?
