I am teasing myself looking at travel deals on the luxury escapes website. DH and I very nearly booked another trip to Thailand. It's evil.

Addicted to popcorn. Salt in the oil before you cook the corn, add the smallest amount of sugar... Party in my mouth...

Now I want popcorn alas, I'm in bed and have just brushed my teeth! Maybe tomorrow...

How much salt in the oil? And how much sugar? Salty/sweet sounds like the perfect combination!

eating a baby carrot for dinner while I seriously consider whether to press send on the online form that will see me waste many years of work & completely withdraw from my studies

Waiting for the after hours doctor to arrive to see my three year old son, ever so slightly annoyed as I went to bed at 8.30 because I am so tired only to be woken by him at 9 hysterically crying, poor baby thinking it's yet another bout of tonsillitis or ear infection, whatever it is it's a doozy

How much work have you got left and how come you're thinking of leaving @pointless1? Have you lost interest or are your health issues preventing you from studying?
Can you apply for a leave of absence instead? You've probably investigated all the channels of support but maybe you can find an advocate in your student health and counseling centre of your Uni that can push your case for leave or long extensions to get done whatever work is needed? I'm a teacher at Uni and we have had students go on basically indefinite extensions for individual assignments and take extended leave for health issues. I've never commented on your threads but I've read along and your health issues would count as a serious disability so they do need to support you. Please feel free to pm me if you want advice about how to navigate the system at your Uni.
If you were one of my students and you came to me contemplating leaving this is what I would say:
    1. You absolutely need to do whatever you need to preserve your mental health and not add undue stress
    2. BUT For some students study is a good distraction and good for their mental health and maintaining that connection and purpose can be positive
    3. Leaving Uni completely is a big call, anything you can do to make it a temporary absence is probably a good thing until things settle down and you can make a decision one way or another
    4. Get a disability action plan in place, see the health and counseling service and access any support, extensions etc that you can. People are paid specifically to support students like you so use the services.
    Big hugs 😚

thanks @gingermillie - you have convinced me to not submit it & instead talk to the uni first. I am somewhat lucky in that studying psychology, all the staff are psychologists so very understanding of mental health issues and have been extremely supportive all the way through. It really just how overwhelming & insurmountable these last few units feel that is making me want to quit. I do have an education access plan from disability services but I might also see if I can amend it a bit as it currently just gives a week extension on assessments without a dr certificate & extra time/breaks in exams - my current essay hat I haven't yet done any research on is currently 2 weeks overdue.

Well that sounds like a great plan to start with @pointless1. Hopefully your Uni is understanding , I know for me personally that I hate to lose students and will do whatever I can to support them if struggling as I know that long-term being at Uni and hopefully finishing can be totally life transforming. It's such a big deal so I try and keep my students 😊
I understand that overwhelming feeling. Sometimes you feel so far behind and don't know where to start that it's easier to just not start.
Can you start with getting in touch with current unit coordinator get an extension retrospectively on overdue assignment and put something together that's passable?
Then I'd look at working out a plan for completing the other units. And updating your access plan and negotiating with the coordinators to space out your assessments and get extra time will help. I know it's easy to put pressure on yourself but I'd just focus on doing what is needed just to get through.
It will be such an achievement to finish but by the same token it's not the end of the world if now isn't the right time to continue. You can always come back to it in time and get credit for what you've done if you need time out. There's always many ways to get where you want to be 😊
