Gov maternity leave depends on your agreement. I get 14 weeks mat leave and can have an initial 12 months unpaid leave with an additional 12 months unpaid if it suits business needs (they never deny this though). I'm lucky in that I can use all my leave entitlements so I'll be on full pay to Jan next year and then half pay until oct 2017 if I want but I will probably return to work part time in july or august next year.
As for the PPL through the federal government as it takes so long for them to implement any changes we should be able to sneak it in before they mess with it. 😊
I'm not bothered if people think I'm double dipping- this will be the only time I have or will receive payments from the Gov. We earn too much to receive tax benefits. If they change the childcare rebate to means tested, we will lose that too. I've paid enormous amounts of tax so I feel like I should get something. That and i don't begrudge anyone who can get gov assistance - our taxes are high enough that everyone should get everything their entitled to.
Hahaha I'll get off my soap box now... 😂

I am so jealous of those of you who can take extended paid leave lol. I'll have to go back at least one day as soon as my PPL is finished

Boo MrsTugs. That sucks! 😳 I'm grateful that I have leave to use. I'm choosing to go on mat leave from 32 weeks because I am so exhausted and so sick of my job. So many of my working mummy friends are judging because I'm not maximising my leave for after bubs is born... 😐 To be honest I need some time between finishing work and bub arriving to organise some things and focus on my family.

Peedypie I know what you mean. I'm finishing up at 35 weeks and am so excited for the month or so ( hopefully- all going well) that I'll have before Bub is born. It will be so nice to not have to be anywhere or do anything. A time you can actually do nothing and it's allowed lol. I've never had a break from work like that where I could just potter around so I'm excited and need it too

As a side note, I feel like a huge whale today. Feels like I've been waddling round the office! 🐳

Haha I had to get hubby to do up my sandles the other night too!
Who knows what my bikini line situation is at the moment. I haven't seen it for awhile! 😁
