A slightly similar alternative - what about Alfred? Nicknames could be Alfie/Alf, or Fred/Freddie?

If you were super sold on Albie as a stand-alone name, you should go for it, however it seems you are still unsure. I found boy's names much harder to agree on than girl's names, it's tough!

    Default Boys Names

I had the worst time finding a boys name! We had girls names from day one sorted then of course when it came time to finding out the sex I knew It would be a boy because we couldn't agree.
    Hubby's picks:
Eli obvs that's a nn but he liked it
    Isaac -Zac
    Daniel - dan

    Mine:
    Angus - Gus
Celeb no nn that I can think of
    Alexander - Alex or sandy
    Joshua - josh

We went with Joshua and he has a j middle name so gets Josh or JJ

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! I quite liked Alfred/Alfie but DP's mother had a rather awful partner named Fred when he was younger and so he vetoed anything with Fred. I also like Louis but she also dated a Laurie which is apparently too similar.. she had a range of unpleasant partners back in the day which limits things! DP's suggestions are foul, he recently suggested Felix and he was set on Apollo for kiddo #1.

I've looked at other names where we could use Albie as the nn but all I can find is Alban which I dislike. DS1 has been calling little bro Albie lately and it does sound ridiculously cute when he says it.

    Boys names are so hard!

I think Albie is super cute on its own. Would DP cope with Henry, and Harry for the nickname?

PS I'm so thrilled for you. My heart broke for you when you lost your darling girl.

Sorry if you've already addressed this one, but could Albie perhaps be a sweet middle name that is used like a nickname, with a first name that may not match but at least doesn't clash?

My little boy is called Austin. I also liked Lincoln, Harrison, Lachlan and Max. Good luck!
