    Default Zika and ttc

Hello - anyone ttc and have travel plans this year? We are traveling to Europe during their summer and slightly worried about Zika virus even though it hasn't hit there yet. Thoughts?

I was pregnant earlier this year (unfortunately ended in a miscarriage). We had a cruise booked and had New Caledonia been added to the travel warning, we'd have cancelled our cruise. I just don't think it's worth the risk. As it was, I had a miscarriage 2 weeks before we were due to go, so didn't need to think anymore about Zika.

So in your shoes, I would either delay travel or delay ttc.

No way would I risk it!

Be careful about your DH going. A lot of people can be infected with the virus and never have any symptoms so he could be a carrier and if he becomes infected and returns home he could possibly infect you either because a mosquito bites him and then bites you or they're also theorising that it could possibly spread through intimate partner contact as well. So be careful about that. It would be better if he didn't go or if he goes that he is very very careful about not being bitten himself and take precautions when he returns.

I've wondered this too!! I've had this apocalyptic image of all these preggos huddled in quarantine to birth. Seriously hope it doesn't reach Australia.
