    They are telling me that I will get in the 12 weeks full payments from Social Security and any good father should be paying money towards their children in that 12 weeks also ...but he isn't so she said if he won't pay now contact them and they will cancel the 12 week and they will collect CS from him ...and I only just get his money and the payments for what I am in titled to ...

    So I guess they let you double dip for 12 weeks so to speak so that you can get on your feet ..

    Huh? Double dip?

    No, they give you a 12 week grace period to lodge a claim for child support. In the meantime they will allow you to claim the FTB based on your income alone. Once you start receiving child support, the FTB amounts will be adjusted accordingly. If you don't lodge a claim for child support within the 12 week grace period you are penalised by having FTB A drop to base rate.

    It's not double dipping (I hate that term), it's about giving people time to get their affairs in order after a relationship breakdown.

    Glad you contacted them and got the ball rolling.

    You know what I was getting at ..yes that is what I meant ...but the thing is he tells me he doesn't have to pay CS for the 12 weeks at a all...

    You've lodged an application which registers that you're separated and have his kids. So once all the paperwork is sorted they have evidence that he has to pay from the day you lodged the paperwork. That's why everybody be has suggested down Ng this from the start as the earlier you do it, the more CS he has to pay
