Ladies, I have a slightly awkward question..
My info sheet says to abstain from unprotected sex from day 8 of injections but it doesn't say when to abstain all together for optimal sperm health.
We are covered for icsi on our insurance and have signed a consent form for them to perform icsi if needed but I'd like to know we did everything we could to help things along.
Does anyone have any info on this? I would much appreciate it!

@mrsthomo yeah my meds used to be completely covered by Medicare during my first cycle. Then they sent an email around saying Medicare will only pay for something like $30 per medication and we pay the rest. Tbh though, I don't want to add up how much we've spent on IVF so far. It's too depressing.
I'm not sure what the proposed new rules are about bulk billing but I refuse to believe it'll happen. Even if it does, it'll be the downfall of the govt and the new one will just tear it down. Even if they were to keep BB for pensioners and low income health care card holders, there will still be millions of people and families who will struggle and avoid seeing doctors because of this.

@mrsthomo my clinic usually gets hubby to ejaculate (and discard) on trigger day, which is 2 days before EC, and discourage unprotected sex altogether. So we abstain altogether for a few different reasons. Usually ejaculation every few days keeps the sperm healthy, but in our case it didn't seem to have any consequences. DH also takes zinc daily though.

@Mink Oh wow that would have been really handy!
That's absolutely fair enough. I haven't added up how much we've spent on the entire process I just thought the price difference between clinics for medication was incredible so I had to work it out.
I think you're right about the BB thing. Honestly you just have to be. I don't think I'd be able to afford to have my routine checks and I hate to think of what may happen to people if they are unable to see a doctor because of this. It's just such a stupid idea.
