I was wondering if anyone else is or has been in my position? I've had 4 miscarriages and one perfectly healthy son (2nd pregnancy). I've recently been diagnosed with Insulin resistance and been put on metformin - a possible and probable cause for the miscarriages. have done a little reading regarding the relationship between the two and it seems to make sense, I guess I was wondering if anyone has had multiple miscarriages, then went on to have a healthy pregnancy/birth due to insulin resistance and being on Metformin?

I am a chronic lurker but your story just resonated so much I could not just read and run. Like you I had four consecutive miscarriages after a healthy Bub. We were tested for all the usual suspects and nothing found. I had just about given up when We met with a pregnancy loss expert as opposed to a fertility specialist who diagnosed insulin resistance. I was prescribed metformin, two months later I fell pregnant with my son. He has just turned two . I consider metformin my own personal miracle drug and I hope it works the same for you.

Insulin Resistance and miscarriage
Hi MrS DL - I wasn't sure whether to share my story... I had two healthy babies born 20 months apart... Then a year later I had a miscarriage.
Two months later I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and put straight on metformin... Doctor said I should find it really easy to fall pregnant and to stay on it if I do and that should help me not miscarry.
Sadly that was a year ago and I still have not managed to conceive again... In my case I feel the metformin has not made a difference if anything made it harder for me to conceive....
I hope your story is different from mine ☺️ baby dust

thanks so much for sharing. Sorry for your loss and sorry that you are struggling at the moment.
I have never had to deal with not being able to get pregnant before as I've fallen first time every time, but I am definitely aware that this can happen. I don't know from experience but I wouldn't know which is worse, not being able to get pregnant, or miscarrying multiple times. Anyway, I'm pretty numb to miscarriage now so if it takes a while to get pregnant I do feel that it would be easier that way... Once again though, I have no idea - Only someone in that situation would be able to shed some light and it's definitely not a competition being that both situations are awful.
I guess only time will tell! I currently have to wait until May for Health insurance to kick in before we can try again but that will go fast I think.
Once again, thanks for your story, I need to know all aspects of peoples experience I guess as I'd rather be prepared
