Hi Ladies, congratulations on your pregnancy, how exciting!
I have come to this forum as I am a student midwife looking for women in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne who are going to the Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg for their appointments and the birth of their baby.
As you might already know, it is a requirement of becoming a midwife that the student must follow 10 women through their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period as it has show to have a real positive affect on women's experiences and allows the student to gain a real insight to what women go through and how make a real difference for each woman's pregnancy, birth and postnatal periods.
Having a student midwife follow you through does not interrupt the care provided by health care providers you have chosen. We are simply there to support you through your journey and answer any questions you may have. We must attend four antenatal appointments, two postnatal appointments and be present for your birth.
Although my placement is at the Mercy Hospital, I would also look into supporting women at near by hospitals in eastern suburbs as I am currently living in the outer eastern suburbs.
If you are interested in having that extra support for your pregnancy and birth, or just have any general questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and all the best with your baby!
