My son is 3.5 and won't poo on the toilet!! Loves wee's and great with just jocks in the day time, never wets - however when I put a bed time nappy on he does a poo...he refuses to go on the toilet and thinks is hilarious that he goes in his nappy!!
HELP!! Fed up mum :-(

This may sound really odd, but it was suggested by another hubber a while ago and worked for us.
I told my child that the toilet was hungry and we had to feed it our poos. She thought it was hilarious!

This sounds exactly like my 3 year old so am jumping on to get some hints as well please.
I'm convinced she holds it in til nap time or bed time when she knows she will have her nappy on!

In the same boat here too....

My SIL had success with firstly putting her son on the toilet in a nappy, then she actually cut a hole in the nappy so the poo went into the toilet. It only took 2 or 3 times of doing that before he would go on the toilet. He was over 3 too.

We 100% bribed which I know isn't for everyone. He was the same - had wee sorted but would freak out about poo. He got to pick a toy he had been eyeing off at the shops for ages and we bought it home but it sat up on a shelf until he was ready to do poo's on the toilet. He could hold it for a while if he sat on the toilet to try, so he did that a few times and then would tell us to put it back, so we did. We never put pressure, always praised him for trying and would say maybe next time - but the new toy would get put up again out of reach. Finally it got the better of him as he wanted that truck so badly, so he just started pooping on the toilet.
Note - we knew he could do it as when we weren't really toilet training but just getting him used to the toilet here and there, he actually did a poo or two on the toilet. It was only later when we were properly toilet training that he freaked out and wanted a nappy for poops.
We also had times of reading books while sitting on the toilet, that helped too. Good luck!

Have you tried not putting a night time nappy on and see what he does?
