we def weren't even the mother/daughter team you'd see down the local nail salon getting our nails done together. pretty sure she thinks what I spend on pampering is a waste of money.
I convinced her to get a cheap pedi with me once, she hated it and complained the girl hadn't done a good job. She screws up her nose at anything like that, and yes thinks I waste my money. I remember buying cleanser & moisturiser as a teenager, and mum was like, 'why did you waste your money on that rubbish? I just use soap and water!'. Bizarre considering the line of work she is in. She would spend less money and attention on beauty than anyone else I know!
I understand that's just not her though.

to each their own I guess. they grew up in a different era to us. in the day, a pedi was something you got on your wedding day only. not a fortnightly habit as we do now. they prob can't understand that 😂

A quick update - I had my hair done last week. Pretty happy with the result and was really well priced - especially considering I was in the salon for 4 hours! The stylist was a perfectionist. I got a cut, foils, hand-painted colour and toners. Not sure if I am supposed to repost this photo so might delete later. It's the before & after 😊

I just saw her tonight - her reaction was pretty much - 'did you get a hair cut? Why did you do that? Well if you want to waste your money... I could have bought some stuff over tonight and done it for you...'

Sigh. She's ok with it. I didn't expect any other reaction from her tbh. I just explained how tired and stressed she's been lately I didn't want to ask her to do any more.

I neglected to mention how much I loved it and will likely go back to same hairdresser... Just going to leave it be!
