    Usually exercise is my main outlet but I've been sidelined with a medical condition for the past month and it's driving me insane. Have another test this week and hoping to get the all-clear or at least a solution to help me back to exercise.

    I'm no longer studying either so I'm finding my nights a bit tedious and quite a lack of purpose at the moment, so picking up either a new or old hobby sounds great!

    I've been having a bit of chocolate, but after not exercising for a month it's starting to show!

    I remember baking so much after my first miscarriage - learnt so much and became a bit more adventurous. I think I need to get out more too - so a trip to the shops could be good even if it just ends in a small treat for the kids.

    @Tinachris I have no idea why the quoting thing isn't working.

    Thank you - I'm at home a lot and trying not to eat just because I feel like crap at the moment is hard. I've put on so much whilst not exercising.

    I think it's time to invest in some new music - I might try and find those short stories.

    Okay, just trying to think of things that I've tried in the past...

    * cooking - only fun stuff, not dinner
    * shower
    * exercise
    * watching a happy DVD
    * getting out
    * a big walk
    * catching up with friends
    * playing an instrument

    Thank you everyone for sharing. It's all about trying to force yourself into the right head space isn't it. Making purposeful steps that lead to positive outcomes.

    My pick-me-ups:

    Watching a fave TV series on DVD

    Getting a hair makeover

    Solo trip to the shops to spend money on myself

    Long phone chat to one of my close friends. Guaranteed laughs

    Watch a great movie with great snacks

    Go for a big walk somewhere scenic. I love bushwalking.

    Get a massage. Those shopping centre massage places do the trick and don't cost a bomb.

    Having a really great coffee

    Drinking a nice quality wine

    That's okay. It's a struggle! Yeah the short stories make me get out of my own head, if that makes sense. Comfort eating is hard to break. I love food 😔 just try to keep off the chocolate and alcohol!

    I love the pod cast idea. I had forgotten how I used to like listening to them. Will be using some UK comedy post casts for my own pick me up because there is nothing like a good belly laugh and I miss all my favourite home grown funnies 😀
