Default Fetal fibronectin test- pre term contractions

Hi, hoping for some advice if anyone has been in a similar situation.
I'm 34+5 with my first Bub. I attended my antenatal class this morning and felt some weird cramps and had a tiny amount of spotting... Long story short I've been hooked up now for a few hours. I've had a positive fibronectin test and contractions have been slowed with nifedipine.
Has anyone had a positive test and when did you have your baby. I live rural so anything before 38 weeks and I get a trip with RFDS so hoping to avoid that.

Did they do the test before they did anything else internal?

I think so. The ob put the speculum in, checked my cervix and took the swab while she was in there. I haven't had an ultrasound and she didn't seem to be poking around up there.

Only reason I ask is if they do an internal and check cervix first it can give a positive reading that is false.

Hi @A&S I had a positive test at 33 weeks, was given steroid injections straight away for the baby and put on nifedipine 4x a day until 37 wks. Ended up being induced at 39wks due to GD. Hope this helps ease your mind a little

Default Fetal fibronectin test- pre term contractions

Things are looking good this morning. No more contractions so fingers crossed I can go home and Bub stays put for a few more weeks
