Hi ladies not sure if someone else put up details. Not a nice article...also very down on the Known Egg Donors that are coming to Brisbane (which is what I'm doing). i get worried too that they'll somehow put a stop to it all...we are so close

The donors coming here is illegal but travelling overseas is not. VARTA are very clear about this.

I am certain he must be friendly with the large aussie egg donation group as are the Courier Mail. The egg donation group are not happy they are being shunned in preference for uncomplicated overseas young donors. Oddly there is more regulation in South Africa than Australia but I didn't see that mentioned either.

Hey KMP how can the donors coming here be illegal? Is that what you meant? Sorry if it isn't. I am 100% confident that QFG and their auditors and all the board and governance people there would not be going ahead with this Known Egg program if it was any way illegal. I've actually personally talked to QFG's CEO Steve Zappia. The Donors aren't being paid, they're known to the recipient and no different to it being a recipient's cousin from another country travelling here for known donation and having their expenses paid.

What a terrible article! He's talking about 2 completely different things in 1 article. How can it be illegal only for Qlders and especially if its legal in the country you go to. What cr*p!!!

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #12

On another note my mum has said there is a sensational article in the Courier Mail today stating travel to SA for egg donation as illegal and other things. My mum's 102 year old friend even said it sounded dodgy. I know CM always publishes egg donation stories for the prominent egg donation site so I am thinking it is all related. Can anyone get the article? I can't find it online.
I bought the CM just to see the article - I was told about it by a colleague.
It's poorly written and filled with misinformation.
I did get the vibe it was based on info supplied by those (prominent local ED site with ferocious participants 😉) against the new program run by Wazza that brings SA donors to Qld to donate.
I'm guessing they are cranky that they no longer hold all the cards to bully recipients....

^^I understand this to be true too. I believe it's legal because it's a known donor and it's altruistic. Which are the two major factors governing ED in Australia.

ECM, I know egg donations Australia is administered, however egg donors australia isn't, so that one's probably a free for all. I hope this helps.

They have been paid a donor fee. All egg donors from South Africa are paid. You should look at the fine print and laws regulating egg donation in Australia. If you paid an agency they are paid which is illegal. VARTA can help you as there is no regulatory body in Queensland which is why people travel from all over Australia to Queensland for donor treatment.

Unfortunately most egg donor sites in Australia are set up by donors and run by donors and have no moderators. You are required to lose all privacy and invest in hope but at the end of the day they choose who deserves eggs- which was not something I had yime for.

QFG only have a financial interest and will claim zero responsibility as they have not sourced the donor. I read the ABC transcript with Dr Molloy. He is not a silly man and was my doctor in Brisbane. The relationship is between you and the agency/donors and therefore your responsibility to fall within the legal parameters.
