    Can so relate here!!!!!!
Actually had someone ask me (after repeated attempts by me to deflect the subject) say " well did you not want them or is there something wrong with you"
Also had another co-worker say " God when are you having kids, I've been waiting years for you to have kids" I really blew up at her for that one.
So rude and unnecessary asking people about their reproductive organs!

Sorry to butt in as I am not IVF but this question infuriates me. Whenever anyone is being gossipy and brings up 'I wonder when so and so are having kids I always bring up why is it our business. And that they will tell us if they want. They might not want to or might not be able to'. Shuts up most people.

As a response it is hard. I have previously said along the lines of 'it is our business and decision when and if you have a child/more children' (this is more the nosy acquaintances or family I am not close with). Family/friends I am close to never really asked but when they mentioned it I always said that we will when/if we are ready (I had trouble conceiving with both pregnancies and the questions always came at the wrong time).

People suck sometimes. I wish you all the best on your journey.

Reasonably long term lurker but very seldom poster. My New Years resolution is to pipe up far more often here!

We've been ttc for a fair while but not at ivf stage just yet. We're a very private couple and haven't really shared our issues. When it comes to the "when are you......" Questions I usually try and deflect them and change the subject, or come out with some of the responses others have mentioned above. I really don't understand how some people are so persistent in getting a comprehensive answer that satisfies their intense desire to know the entire details of someone's private business.

However once, after being repeatedly pressed by friends of friends who wouldn't take no for an answer I just snapped and said : " well, we've mostly been doing anal recently so I wouldn't hold your breath for a pregnancy announcement". Killed it stone dead!

    Lol great comeback 😁
I always used to say 'I don't particularly want any' and that used to shut them right up. A woman has a right to change her mind later ....

It's none of their business. I've found that when people know you are trying they like to ask how it's going and obviously if they can't see a pregnant belly then I'm not pregnant and talking about the fact that it hasn't worked isn't on the top of my things to discuss! So to avoid that I now respond with something like:
"what and ruin this body... I don't think so" haha or "oh not with my phobia of pregnant bellies"

    @WaitRose
That is hilarious, I'm totally stealing that!!
The worst response I ever gave was
    "It's not that I don't like babies, I just don't think I could eat a whole one"
Insert blank vacant stare and uncomfortable silence
    X

I'm just totally honest and say we are doing IVF and hope to one day get there. Most times people ask from a place of love not just being a busy body. Maybe just cause I did 6 years it was just who I was so easier to just be up front and not hide anything.
