Default Need help finding a GP on the Sydney lower north shore for shared antenatal care

    Hi,

I'm a newly pregnant mum with my first baby. Currently at 7 weeks. I am completely new to this whole process given I haven't even gone through this with a friend or family member. I have had my first doctors visit and currently awaiting all bloods results and scan referral. I am moving to the lower north shore (Kirribilli) and would like a local doctor to be with me through my whole pregnancy but finding it really difficult to select one. My private medical insurance does not cover pregnancy and if I add this I have to wait 12 months (useless). SO I don't mind paying for a GP each time or going bulk billed if there is a good one. Any recommendations for GPs, Mothers or birthing groups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have absolutely no idea about gp's on the lower north shore, but have you thought about going through the midwives at rns hospital?

Is that something you can do? I was recommended shared care which is both GP and midwives. Have you experienced just midwife care through the hospital? I've heard good things about the midwife care at RNS.

I'm in Wollongong and going through the high risk midwives clinic at Wollongong hospital, I was with the mgp at Wollongong until growth issues appeared at 30 weeks.

I'm sure you can. There are midwife run clinics at all hospitals and it is a major hospital. Give the antenatal clinic a call on Monday and just ask them about the process. They might even have the clinic or day assessment open today, so try calling and ask them.

Dr Helen Greer at Miller St Medical Practice in North Sydney is an absolutely amazing GP. She is super popular and you sometimes have to wait a long time as she runs over on each patient, but I would suggest going to see her and she can plug you in to the right people. She's very special.

Hi Hermia, I have been following this post as I too live on the lower north shore but am looking for help in regards to infertility. I looked up Helen Greer on your recommendation and turns out I went to school with her daughter so I'm not keen to see her. Do u know anything about Susan Allman who is also at the same practice?

Clinic 66 in Chatswood do sharedantenatal care and are also fertility and family planning specialists. They are lovely and I'm thrilled I can use this service rather than finding a GP.
