    Default Redlands Hospital catchment area

    Hi all

I've been searching high and low for Redlands public catchment area, but cant find it. I know that Mater Brisbane Mother's hospital have a catchment area plan on their website........

Does anyone know of what suburbs fall within Redlands ?

I can probably tell you vaguely. Feel free to PM me with your suburb and I'll tell you. I don't think their catchment is as strict as MMH as its a much smaller unit.

    Hi M'LadyEm

For some reason I cant work out a private message. We're considering moving to either Tanah Merah, Cornubia or Mount Cotton.

You should be fine with any of those suburbs. Mt Cotton will definitely be the closest to Redlands. Tanah Merah/Cornubia you're only 10-15min from Logan hospital but you should still be able to be referred to Redlands, it's just a further drive (25-30min). I grew up in the area and actually did a few nursing pracs out at Redlands. It's a nice drive and not too bad traffic wise.

Yes, I wanted to avoid Logan if I could !!

We had our last baby at Greenslopes and I just personally cant justify spending another $6K+ on going private again. Whilst it was an amazing experience, I'd prefer going public again.

    Thanks for your input

Cornubia and mt cotton can get you Redlands referrals. Tanah merah you might have to fight for it.

I was given the option of logan, beaudesert or redlands. It was the same when i was pregnant with ds1 in 2012. I applied for the mater and got rejected, and was told those 3 were my options
Went to logan for my first, i had a terrible experience. Had friends who went to redlands and said it was great, so this time i asked my dr to refer me there and she did. I was accepted no questions asked or anything. The drs/midwives asked during appts as logan is much closer to where i live. I told them about my horrible experience at logan and how friends recently had their babies at redlands and raved about it. They seemed happy enough.
Seriously if I'd known how great redlands was back when i had ds1 i would have gone there instead.
Having your own room is a serious perk, as is sharing a bathroom with only 1 other lady. the midwives were amazing too. I couldn't fault them or the hospital at all.
Things went very bad during my labour and i was rushed to surgery and put under a general. The next day the dr came and explained exactly what happened and kept apologizing for how it turned out (i was attempting a vbac).
I had an emergency csection at logan too and i never got that kind of treatment.

Just try, the worst that can happen is they'll say no. But get in asap. I booked in when i was only 8 weeks pregnant.
