What do you do to calm yourself? What are your go to comfort food items, if eating is your release?

Drink tea. Preferably loose leaf from a pot, but regular tea will do if I don't have time.
Use moisturiser as a grounding tool. Get a really nice fragrant one, take 2 minutes time out to get really absorbed in noting the scent and feel of the moisturiser. Plus, my hands get some decent care that way.
Time out with DS. Just watching him play if that's all I can manage. Taking note of his expressions as he figures something out, the delight in his face when music is played, watching him do something new.
Breathe. Properly, slowly, for at least 3 minutes. There is an app called breathe which is supposed to be helpful if you struggle to do this by yourself.
Having said that, nothing is working today. My anxiety is sky rocketing, and I've got nothing else.
I generally don't eat when I'm stressed - I can't.

I like to be an adult and go to bed and pull the covers over my head and pretend nothing is wrong.
Going for a drive with the music blaring also helps.
Talking to my three BFFs on FB chat.
Coming on here and reading the fluff threads.
Watching reality TV.

usually to calm myself I have to shout or at least speak what is on my mind. I don't do 'holding it in' . If I get upset about something, and shouting about it is not ok, then I will walk away, and breathe, for a while. then once my mind is clear, I will speak my mind. often tears will follow, whether I am actually upset of not, tears will come just because of whatever emotions. tears can be anger, frustration, sadness, or even just from surprise. it doesnt happen very often. marie.

I forget to eat and drink and then decide to take on massive big projects like today of cleaning every room in the house and simply end up in a bigger mess wondering wtf was I thinking. Now to get myself out of this!
