Default GP recommendations - Brisbane (preferably north Brisbane)

    Hi ladies,
I found out I was pregnant on Xmas Eve, and am today 4 weeks, so would like to go to get my blood pregnancy test this week.

I am seeking recommendations for a female GP that is well versed in the pregnancy journey. I'm at Ferny Grove, and there is a family practice close to me, but for some reason I'm not sure that the GP's there are right for me in this journey.

I don't mind travelling elsewhere in Brisbane for a good GP, but north Brisbane recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Are you planning on doing shared care? I don't really see my GP for anything pregnancy related other than referrals.

Mamasupial, I'm not really looking at shared care, but I'd still like to get a GP that is willing to give me a referral to the Birthing Centre - I've read some GP reviews where they refused to do it until closer to the 12 week mark 'just in case', and I don't want that sort of bedside manner. Thanks Chyna! I've written her name down now, and will check if they're open this week

I haven't seen them personally but a midwife from the Birth Centre when I had my first bub two years ago recommended the Stafford Heights Medical Practice (all female gps).

Lois Macfarlane at Keperra medical centre on Dallas Pde is amazing. Bulk billing practice too. She often runs late but will never rush through appointments. She looked after me through my last pregnancy, post birth recovery and pnd. She is an angel! So sad I have moved!

She also has two young kids of her own so knows it from both sides- I think she worked mostly with pregnant women in the UK.

Dr Allison Graham at Chermside medical centre is fantastic and a young mother herself also. She was awesome with my second child went through a lot and bad mastitis and she was so empathic and listened and tried all options and never dismissive.

If ur doing birth centre, the private midwives who do Royal Brisbane and Gold Coast deliveries who are based in Beenleigh are supposed to be good, my dh is an ob and he says they're one of the few groups who he thinks are great. Some of the others are well known for taking risks.....
