We have friends 'round every year, then walk down to the beach for the midnight fireworks. Now that a few of us have kids, not so many people stay until the early hours, but it's still great. We'll be getting the 6 month old and 3 year old out of bed to drag with us this year.

New years eve, seems to be not so exciting. I usually stay up to watch the fireworks from Sydney harbour on the tv, and then go to bed. I don't remember becoming such an oldie, it must have happened while I was not looking. cheers everyone, marie.

Used to have big parties with friends pre kids, after kids I had a couple of big ones if they were being taken care of by my parents, went away and stayed at a nice place a couple of years ago with dp. Last year just got stupidly drunk at home and regretted it the next day big time. This year I'll still stay up till midnight but will be taking it easy as I have to work 9am-6pm new years day

Nothing much has changed. Every year we either go to someone's for a party or in earlier days out on the town. We have lots of kids in the group now so its house parties so we can chuck all the kids to bed. Just a bit less booze and not as late as we would have pre kids.
This year we are hosting a pre nye/late Xmas party between Xmas and NY that is kids free. It's not easy to ask people to babysit on NYE and tbh I want ds with us then. So this might be our new adults only party that we do every year. We can't wait!

Nothing- not even children- will come between me and my NYE dancey dance. We always go out for it, this year we are doing the same as last year, drinks at a friend's place in town then a soul and funk night until the not-so wee hours. We'll be home by 1.30ish to relieve the babysitter. Unless we score the kids having a sleepover at grandma's house in which case it's on for young and old!
