The Known Donor people cost about $13K and QFG are about $12K then that doesn't include the management of the donor's cycle as in doctors appointments and scans, or management of my cycle, appointments and scans or the transfer which is another $2300. So it could easily come out at $30K.

I haven't heard back from my friend who offered to donate, so I think she's getting cold feet, $$ wise I'd rather an Aussie donor but I know that takes time with the three month cooling off period and I want to pregnant like YESTERDAY!!

This really sucks. When a natural pregnancy costs zero, to be looking at the costs we have to face it is ridiculous. Not sure what to do now. I have an appointment with my new FS to see if I can start a cycle of my own this month or next month, but I'm out very soon when I turn 45, so really want that next step in place. Why is it so hard?
Why is QFG so expensive for this? There part is almost $4K more than a full normal cycle... Does Medicare cover anything? You cannot use Known Donor and one of the low cost clinics?

Hopefull your friend has just been busy with Christmas and comes through fur you.

I know right? Someone should call them on it they can't charge more to us to treat a South African donor than to treat an Aussie donor - that's profiteering!

@Sue77 have you looked at Mexico as a surrogacy option? I just came across it mentioned on Known Donor site...
