We did. Our daughter was 22 months and bf still (only for sleeps/first thing in the am). Her first 'overnight stay away' was the wedding night and my parents were staying in the same hotel so she could feed when she woke. We went up to Airlie Beach. It was awesome. We still went out for tea every night and could order cocktails to our room once she was down for the night etc. I think it depends on your circumstances. It worked for us.
