I'm the opposite. Work is in the middle of nowhere but I love it : head down bum up! I focus on work and get it done without spending money on coffees or lunches out.
Home is inner city and again I love it. My car doesn't move for the days we are home. Everything is within reach by feet.

Within 2 min walk (maybe 5 min for most people) of my old house, I had a newsagents, pathologists, hair dressers, beautician, vet, a couple of cafes/restaurants, bank, take away, a pilates studio, accountant, a church, post office, bakery, butcher, chemists, some independent shops, a florist, real estate agents, my GP and an IGA. And my old work place. I didn't much like the house, but I loved the location.
My current work place is very close to a strip mall as well as a larger shopping centre, restaurants and cafes.
My current home is near a shopping centre with a supermarket, Dr, post office, bakery, post office, newsagent, dentist, butcher, bottle shop, chemist, physio, bank, a few schools, a couple of parks.
