There has been a reported case of whopping cough in a neighbouring town to us.
Why people run such a risk I have no idea. And the risk isn't even on them it's on their own kids! Or their neighbours kids!

There is an epidemic of it at my child's school at the moment. 25 kids and counting. All have been vaccinated (apparently).

so if your kid has been vaccinated, and other haven't been, and there ends up being a whooping cough outbreak at the daycare centre/school etc, is your vaccinated kid protected or still at risk?

I'm always confused. I thought vaccination stopped them getting sick but I'm guessing there's still a risk?

Vaccinations are not 100% effective so some people who are vaccinated will still get sick, although generally get a milder dose of the illness.

Or at least that's my understanding. I'm not a doctor though

Vaccines don't stop you getting the disease, they lower the severity. Also not a doctor, but that's my understanding in a nut shell.

I am all for this no jab no pay. About time. Same goes for the vaccine only Childcare centres. Fully support both and don't know why it hasn't happened sooner.
