Such devastating news. My thoughts are with all those effected (which really encompasses us all as it has such far reaching consequences).

    Sad, sad day!

I don't know a lot about France / Paris, can anyone tell me why it seems to be a target to these organizations?

@ExcuseMyFrench I hope your family is safe.

I think isil would take credit for any bomb (not saying they didn't do it).

    Just scary and sad

That's exactly what I said. It's a cowardly act, they do this and then run away. No war is a "good" war, but at least the true soldiers in past combat have actually faced battle. These animals, terrorists, aren't even human, killing innocent civilians to get their "message" across? They are like spiders hiding in the shadows. It's sickening.

According to another discussion I'm reading right now...

"France has the largest population of Muslims in Europe--with up to 15% of the Paris Metropolitan Area (around 1.7Million)-- many of whom are disaffected Islamic youth.Immigrant Muslims in France generally live under poor conditions and feel like second class citizens. This has already led to a number of violent clashes in recent years, such as the French Riots of 2005.
Prisons in France are now majority Muslim -- between 60-70% (!) -- which means that Islamic radicalization is going on in a wholly separated society, without any attempt to provide alternative to that ideology.
That, and the ongoing cultural clash between French nationals and new immigrants makes for a prime recruiting and organizing ground for terrorism."

oh and like New York, Paris is culturally significant and I guess seen as symbolic of the Western culture? So attacking cities like this probably has greater impact since they're places that everyone knows and loves. Or something like that, I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

The really scary thing is is that the authorities clearly had absolutely no idea this was going to happen. If they did they would never have let the president be in any public area, let alone a stadium. It looks like this planned completely off the grid.
