Marigold, just go for it!
It's only hair and it will be a shock to the system, so prepare for that...but once you get used to looking in the mirror there will be no going back. I went from bra strap length to super short pixie cut. I cried the next day, but then loved it and have had a pixie cut for years.

I also vote go for it! Hair changes are something that is not permanent, does not physically hurt. This is coming from someone who loves chopping hair off and dyeing it (currently very red).
