Default Introduction- questions about Augment and OvaScience

    Hi All,
I'm so glad to find this forum. DH and I have been ttc for over 2 years, since I was 41. I'm now 43, have 6 failed IVF procedures (only one chem). I always cranked out lots of eggs but so far no luck. I got genetically tested and no problems were detected.

I found the Augment procedure (and OvaPrime- not yet in clinical trials, right?) and sent my recent test results to a clinic in Canada. I'm awaiting their assessment.

For those of you who applied to Augment and were declined, did they give any reason? The Toronto clinic said that the age cutoff for Augment is 45 and that those not selected for Augment are then evaluated for OvaPrime. My #s are pretty good (FSH of 7.3), AFC between 15-20, AMH not as good (1.7).

Any advice? Should I send my #s to all clinics that do Augment? Any success stories here for people who were accepted to do Augment?
    Thanks so much.
    LMM

    Hi @LMM

I have not been accepted to do Augment but I am in a similar position to you. I’m 43 and have done 8 unsuccessful IVF cycles (incl 2 miscarriages). I’m now wondering what next.

I don't want to discourage you but my understanding is that Augment will do nothing for your egg quality, which I'm guessing may be your issue (being 43 with low AMH, like me). Augment will give your embryos energy to divide and but if the egg was chromosomally abnormal before forming the embryo, Augment can’t change that. I'm happy for someone to tell me I'm wrong about this but I've read this a few times and also read that Ovaprime is what's currently recommended for women in their 40s. I would hate for you to spend thousands of dollars without at least being aware of this issue.

I highly recommend reading a forum on the Inspire website which has a huge amount of information about Ovascience and their technology. Go to the inspire website and do a search for ovascience.

Also see this thread on bubhub http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...me-and-OvaTure

Also see this interesting research in the news today (although it’s likely to be too far off for us): http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/f...-1227577813795

Good luck! Please come back and share what the clinic tells you. Obviously they do take women up to 45 so hopefully for some reason your history makes you a good candidate despite what I have said about egg quality (i.e. perhaps egg quality is not in fact your problem).

I also think that at the moment there is only one other clinic that is using Augment and that's in Turkey. @chook11 might have something to say on all this.

    Hi All,

The Augment clinics are on the website:

    http://www.augmenttreatment.com/

I'm not a candidate for Augment since I don't get eggs in IVF or get periods anymore. I am waiting for OvaPrime and trying to get financially in order before then. I bought more shares since they went down recently. Hoping if OvaPrime goes well then the shares will take off, and will help me to afford OvaPrime.

I'm also a member of the Inspire website thread.

Sorry I was slow to respond to your other post LMM. I've been quite busy at work. Also trying to let go of this for a while and focus on work. If I can get promoted in the next couple of years it will also help to afford OvaPrime.

@LMM71 did you hear back from the clinic and what did they say?
