Yep, they can be wrong. I had my dating scan at exactly 7 weeks. It measured bub at 5+6 with a heartbeat of 142.
I had my midwife appointment at 12 weeks and she said that it wouldn't be an accurate sizing given the heart rate and disregarded the dating scan. We decided to run with dates until my nt scan.
Not scan measured bub exactly on dates at 13+1. Due date is at the original date as per my cycles.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I had a midwife appointment today. I'm currently 35+4 but fundal height is 38 and of course I was told once again my baby is huge. I have a doctors appointment at the hospital on Monday (VBAC follow up) so I will bring up my concerns to him then.

Fundal height isn't accurate - it can be out 3 weeks either way. Fundal height is largely influenced by fluid levels and position of bub. I would be going by lmp based on your regular cycles. Good luck with your vbac
