I have had a sneak peak at the rydges and they arent too bad. We have stayed at the sofitel a few times before and loved it. I would rather stay in the city, more to do esp with a young child.

I also vote to stay in Southbank. There is nothing at the Novotel at the airport, nothing! It's about 25 mins from the airport to Southbank and I think we'll worth the extra drive. Southbank is beautiful and there are plenty of places to eat, etc.

The city would also be ok, better than the airport but Southbank is nicer

You can walk along the river and play in the playgrounds which is so much nicer for kids (at Southbank). I think there are markets on Saturday too (maybe - I don't remember!)

We stayed at Meriton Apartments (Herschel St) which were fantastic - great having our own kitchen and going for a dip in the indoor swimming pool downstairs. Really reasonably priced too. We walked across the bridge and along the river to Southbank with the kids too. It was a quick trip from the airport to there.

I would stay in the city since you have a few hours to kill before your flight to Mackay. The Sofitel is amazing and you can catch the skytrain to and from the airport as there is a station directly under the hotel.

Booked at the Four Points Sheraton, $160 for the night, which i'm happy to pay, i phoned them and asked if we can leave bags there after we check out until we have to go to airport and they said yes.

make sure you do check the skytrain, It does not run 24 hours. so you might not be able to use it. do some checking for taxi fares?. we seem to pay more every time we use one, for even short distances. ?? marie

    Default Where would you stay?

The skytrain is something like $15 per adult and about half that per child. If there are a few you its probably about the same price to get a taxi. And you'll prob need to change trains at central station. With luggage and children - PITA!
