Totally rude!! She could have moved if it were that much of an issue.

Your friend was crying and obviously distressed, quiet carriage or not I would have felt really bad for her and then to be abused when already feeling down seems like such a low blow.

Nasty old mole!!! I would've ripped her a new one as soon as she said it!!

Then when she was talking on her ph I would've turned around & told her to "STFU" & see how she liked it!!!

What the hell is a 'quiet carriage'? What city are you in? I'm in Melbourne and last time I caught a train (a long time ago), there was no such thing. I'm confused. And that lady was a rude biartch.

I have a feeling people need to have had experience on busy peak hour trains to understand the need for quiet carriages. They have been very well received.
They are also very clearly signposted that they are quiet carriages.

We have quiet carriages on our trains. I thought everywhere had them?

I'm surprised that there are people sticking up for the woman by saying maybe she's had a rough day. I don't think there is ever an excuse good enough to justify talking to somebody that way.

I'm getting a cold so my bs tolerance is low.... But people are @rseholes. There is no need to talk to people like that. A simple "excuse me, this is a quiet carriage" would have got the job done.

I once worked at a sport stadium, on the gates. One night there was a police incident on the bridge (I assume someone intending to jump) and it made some people late for their game of football. A lady said to me "oh I wish they'd just jump and get it over with. They made me late for my game". Compassion and manners goes right out the window when it causes an inconvenience. People are @rseholes.
On that note I should go to bed.
