There was a similar story on 60 mins tonight with a mum carrying her daughters baby. Maybe you would like to watch it

If you're comfortable with it go for it, but you need to get counselling with all parties ( mil included) before.
Is there a male cousin you could ask? This may provide the genetic link but also take away the aspect that your child's biological Dad is their granddad and their Dad is their brother

    Sirocco,
I'm in a very similar situation and looking at using my father as a donor and am very interested to see if you decided to go down this path?
Particularly now that its 3 years later I'm very keen to see how this went and if you would have done anything differently.
    Thank You

Hi there @EcstaticSolution. I’ve typed out a whole big private message to you but it says I’m unable to send it. Perhaps you haven’t posted enough to receive private messages yet?

Absolutely I would. At least bubs would have both our genetics which was important to us. Can't say we ever contemplated that idea at the time of us starting IVF though but thinking about it now, I'd have no issue. Dh and I decided from the beginning that if we couldn't have babies that were ours we wouldn't have had them at all.

    I would do it.

Even though my FIL weirds me out a little bit, my husband is technically half of him anyway and my dh doesn't creep me out in the slightest.

If they have an awesome relationship then all the better.

I'd just be sure to sort out all of the niggly bits in terms of expectations with donating, visiting/rights afterward etc.

And to offer a completely different perspective, I just asked hubby if he would do that (FIL sperm) and he said no f*cking way. I don't want my half sibling coming out of my wife's V. So... there's that.

If you and your hubby are comfortable, then go for it.
