DD had surgery at 4yrs old. She was booked to have both out but her adenoids were not large and ENT decided only tonsils out during the op. She needed it for recurrent tonsillitis.

Initial waking was quite traumatic for her due to pain and they had to get more pain killers into her right away. I've since worked out that she doesn't handle pain as well as other kids in general though.

She fell asleep about an hour after waking. After a big nap she woke and was heaps better and ready for ice cream!

We were in overnight. They won't let you go the next day until they eat something solid, eg. Toast. She was eating like normal in a couple of days and energy was back to normal, able to go out etc. She had a week off school but probably only needed 4-5 days .
